Man... I've been to a few monster truck shows that have been second rate trucks in hockey arenas and they've sucked! Not enough room to do anything and the building is so old they keep shutting it down to let the air clear.
This all changed tonight! The REAL Monster Jam came to Paul Brown Stadium. This is one that they filmed and will be showing on Speed. Trucks there: Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, Blue Thunder, Spiderman, Taz (never ran, broken cam), Mopar Magic, King Krunch, El Matador, Stone Crusher, Grinder, Air Force Afterburner, War Wizard. This was also the Anderson show... For the first time 3 Andersons running, Dennis and his sons Ryan (in Spiderman) and Adam (in Taz), although Adam never ran due to a broke cam.
The races were pretty good. Afterburner rolled in front of us. Grave Digger came down hard on the left front and blew the tire. Man, those are LOUD when they blow, and you can feel it in your chest! The final was Grave Digger Vs Maximum Destruction and Grave Digger took it.
Freestyle was awesome, although not many finished their run. Spiderman won it, and looking back at my pics I can see why. I was really looking forward to seeing Grave Digger and Maximum Destruction run, but was disappointed. Both broke knuckles pretty early in the runs. Others were out early due to rolls or mechanical failure.
They had 'quad wars', but it was a complete joke. They had 2 teams they called the Cincinnati team and the Pittsburgh team. You could tell they were not running all out, and they had a pre-set winner. Cinci won the first, Pitt won the 2nd and Cinci won the 3rd and overall. When Pitt won they were interviewing the captain and they even had a fake fight between the captains, but you could tell they were trying to keep from laughing.
I guess this is going to be a regular thing. They're already taking pre-orders for next year. July 9, 2011. Be there! I will!
